The election for the 28th Grand National Assembly of Turkey is expected to end on June 18, 2023 simultaneously with the presidential election to the 600 members of the national parliament of Turkey to determine.

The last parliament was elected on June 24, 2018 , with the result that the ruling AKP lost its majority, but was able to compensate for this with the seats of the MHP . The largest opposition party, the CHP , also suffered a decline in votes (by 2.6%), but was able to win twelve additional MPs through parliament, which was expanded by 50 seats. The previously newly founded IYI made it into parliament, as did the HDP (which - in contrast to the IYI - was not part of any alliance).

On September 13, 2019, the former prime minister and AKP chairman, Ahmet Davutoğlu , announced that he had resigned from the party and exactly three months later the Gelecek Partisi was founded, of which Davutoğlu is chairman. Another AKP spin-off was founded in March 2020 by Ali Babacan , who was among other things deputy prime minister and minister of economics (of the AKP governments), with the Demokrasi ve Atılım Partisi (DEVA) .
