Petro Wassylowytsch Rychlo ( Ukrainian Рихло Петро Васильович ; born July 10, 1950 in Schyshkivtsi , Chernivtsi Oblast , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian German studies scholar, literary scholar, translator, essayist and professor at the National Jurisprudence University of Chernivtsi .

Life

After finishing secondary school in his hometown in Bukowina , he began studying German at the State University of Chernivtsi in 1967 , which he completed in 1972 with a diploma. He worked as an assistant for German language at the chair for foreign languages ​​at the Medical University of Chernivtsi (1972–1973) and as a German teacher at the general secondary school Swarytschiw , Roschnjatiw Rajon in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast (1973–1976).

Since 1976 he has been working at the Chair of Foreign Language Literature at the National University of Chernivtsi - first as an assistant, later as a lecturer and since 2008 as a professor . In 1988 he received his doctorate on the reception of the national literary tradition in the poetry of Stephan Hermlin . In 2007 he completed his habilitation on Paul Celan's poetic work as Intertext .

Since 1999 he has been a member of the Association of Ukrainian Writers . From 2000 to 2002 he was visiting professor for Ukrainian studies at the Institute for Slavic Studies at the University of Vienna .

In December 2016 Rychlo was one of the signatories of the appeal of the Berlin International Literature Festival "End the mass murder in Aleppo!" , Which is directed against the "bombing war by Russian President Putin in the Syrian city ​​of Aleppo ".

Rychlo wrote about 200 specialist articles and essays in literary magazines, scientific anthologies and other print media .
