Pit Kinzer (born April 9, 1951 in Ottobeuren ) is a German artist .

Life

Pit Kinzer, whose real name is Peter Otto Kinzer-Weinacht, was born in Ottobeuren in Swabia . He completed an apprenticeship as a typesetter from that made school diploma at the Technical College of Design in Augsburg , where he studied architecture with the completion of a graduate engineer (FH). He has been a freelance artist since 1978. Since 1995 he has lived and worked in Markt Rettenbach in the Unterallgäu district . He is a member of the Federal Association of Visual Artists (BBK). He also appears as a musician, author and publisher, e.g. B. From 1978 to 1985 he was editor of sprachlos , a magazine for literature and art.

Artistic career

Pit Kinzer started as a draftsman and graphic artist in the 1970s . In the following years he made a name for himself as a socially critical etcher , also through numerous participations in international graphic biennials (including in Barcelona , Cadaques , Lublin , Toruń , Fredrikstad , Varna ). In 1991 he had to give up dealing with acids and solvents for health reasons and after an almost monochrome painting and woodcut phase came to photography, installations in public spaces and various other media, etc. a. interactive CDs. In 2005 he invented his "Gerngroß Models" (model railway figures on a scale of 1:87), which he has artistically staged in all conceivable variations since then, mainly in photographic works and installations. The "Gerngroß Models XXL", larger-than-life figures on mesh fabric, which have so far been installed in 35 cities in Germany and in Austria as far as Kyrgyzstan are known.
