First it should be completed in 2013 and also be included in the racing calendar. However, due to delays in the construction work on the street circuit and unanswered questions about financing, the race had to be postponed.

On October 25, 2011, the chief organizer Leo Hindery announced that an agreement for a ten-year Formula 1 race had been concluded with the Formula 1 organization . This was officially confirmed a day later.

On September 27, 2013, the world motor sport association FIA officially published the provisional Formula 1 racing calendar for 2014, in which the first race in New Jersey was to take place on June 1, 2014. However, the 2014 season took place without the New Jersey Grand Prix. The race was not on the calendar in the following years either. A resumption of the project is unlikely as there is now the Austin Grand Prix .

location

Location of the circuit in the borough of Weehawken (southern part) and West New York

The planned route should be 5.15 km long and have an altitude difference of over 50 m. It was designed by the German route planner Hermann Tilke .

The route should run through the Weehawken Port Imperial waterfront in the parishes of Weehawken and West New York and lie directly on the Hudson River . Among other things, it should run through a forest-like park and residential areas. The start and finish with the pit systems should be located directly on the jetties on the Hudson River.
