Preston is a parish-free area and a satellite town 35 km east of Seattle in King County in Washington State . It was named after William T. Preston, one of the most prominent civilians in the United States Army Corps of Engineers in the late 19th or early 20th centuries.
Preston is a historic site on the northeast flank of Tiger Mountain off Interstate 90 , whose former importance was the extraction and processing of wood. Preston, at an altitude of 130 meters, is within commuting distance from Seattle and Bellevue .
The Raging River, which flows by the site, flows into the Snoqualmie River at Fall City and offers space for recreational activities such as fly fishing and swimming. The East Side Fire & Rescue maintains an occupied only volunteer fire station, station 74, which supplies the area around Preston; volunteers are from Preston and adjacent communities.
The Preston Community Club is a volunteer organization founded to keep the historic community together and protect it by organizing local events and acting as an intermediary with local and state authorities. Several small businesses have sprung up as the town has grown, such as: B. the Preston General Store , Indoor Garden & Lighting , Coffee Too! , Subway and the Preston Post Office . Several larger companies have taken advantage of Preston's easy accessibility, such as the beverage manufacturer Talking Rain and the companies SanMar and Platt .
