history

Bridge over the Snoqualmie River on the Woodinville to Duvall road. The road here reaches the center of Duvall (2007).

The now known as the Duvall area was once home to the Snoqualmie and other ancestors of the Tulalip - Indians . After being relocated under the Treaty of Point Elliott , the area became home to veterans of the Civil War . The center of today's city was on a hill of the woodcutters Francis and James Duvall, who settled here in 1871.

An early milestone in the settlement of Duvall was the relocation of the town of Cherry Valley. In about 1909, the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad approved the relocation of Cherry Valley homes and businesses to continue building a railway line along the Snoqualmie River . The newly settled town, simply called Cosgrove after Samuel G. Cosgrove , experienced an upswing in terms of real estate ; Streets and sidewalks were laid out and a train station was built. This was followed by the construction of a Nickelodeon , a general store, a new school and several hotels. From 1911 the Duvall Citizen began publishing a daily newspaper on a regular basis.

On April 28, 1968, nearly 3,000 fans attended a rock concert on a farm near Duvall in which a piano was dropped from a helicopter. Country Joe and the Fish also performed at the events . The concert is remembered by the locals as a piano drop . The event also inspired the Sky River Rock Festival , a local rock festival that ran from 1968 to 1971.

The city of Duvall experienced another building boom in 2008/2009, which should make the city center more accessible and representative for tourists with a thoroughfare.
