The 1946 season of the Primera División was the 43rd season (the 15th of the professional era) of the Uruguayan top division in men's football , the Primera División .

The championship was won by Nacional Montevideo as first in the table in front of Club Atlético Peñarol and River Plate as second and third in the season's final table . As bottom of the table, Club Atlético Progreso was relegated . The top scorer was Atilio García with 21 goals .
