The 1946 season of the Primera División was the 43rd season (the 15th of the professional era) of the Uruguayan top division in men's football , the Primera División .

The Primera División consisted of ten clubs in the championship season of 1946, whose teams met twice in a total of 90 championship games. There were 18 game days. The championship was won by Nacional Montevideo as first in the table in front of Club Atlético Peñarol and River Plate as second and third in the season's final table . As bottom of the table, Club Atlético Progreso was relegated . The top scorer was Atilio García with 21 goals .
