The Norma Group SE , based in Maintal, is a listed company for connection technology . It maintains 28 production facilities as well as further sales locations in Europe, America and Asia and supplies customers in around 100 countries. In 2018 around 8,800 people were employed worldwide; the company generates sales of 1,084 million euros.

The Norma Group was created in 2006 as a merger of "Rasmussen GmbH" and the "ABA Group". The German company Rasmussen was founded in 1949 by Ove Skafte Rasmussen , a son of Jørgen Skafte Rasmussen . In 2006 the company was sold by the founding family to the financial investor 3i Group . It produces connecting and fastening elements as well as technical solutions for media-conducting systems. The products are sold worldwide under the brand name Norma, among others. The Swedish ABA Group was founded in 1896 as Allmänna Brandredskaps Affären and specializes in the development, manufacture and sale of specific hose and pipe connections as well as connecting elements for industrial applications. Since 1999, ABA has also grown by taking over various connection technology providers . Examples are Terry (UK), Serratub (Italy), Serflex (France) and GEMI (Germany).

With effect from March 14, 2011, the Group's parent company, Norma Group GmbH, was converted into Norma Group AG. The initial listing in the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange followed on April 8, 2011 . In July 2013 the company was transformed into the European company Norma Group SE.

Acquisitions

In 2007 the Norma Group acquired the American "Breeze Industrial Products Corporation". Founded in 1948, Breeze has systematically expanded its product range to include connection technologies for high-performance applications over the past 60 years. These products are increasingly used in the markets for commercial vehicles, passenger cars, engines, aircraft and in various other industrial and commercial segments. In 2003, Breeze acquired Torca Products, a fastener technology company in the United States.

In 2010, the Norma Group took over the US company RGRay. RGRay was founded in 1972 and served industrial original equipment manufacturers as well as customers in the spare parts business with connection components for engines, pumps and filters, commercial vehicles, for the aviation industry and other industrial applications. In the same year, Craig Assembly Inc., a US manufacturer of solutions for industrial cooling technology, was acquired.

In 2012, the Norma Group took over other companies: Connectors Connection Technology AG in Switzerland, which specializes in connection systems for pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, and Groen Bevestigingsmaterial BV in the Netherlands, a distributor for connection products for industry, agriculture, construction and sanitary technology.

Also in 2012, the Norma Group entered global water management with the first acquisition in Asia, the acquisition of the manufacturer of thermoplastic connection systems Chien Jin Plastic in Malaysia . This course continued in 2013 with the acquisitions of two Australian companies, Davydick & Co. and Guyco, which specialize in pumps and valves for fresh water supply, irrigation and agriculture. In 2014, the Norma Group expanded its activities to the US market with the acquisition of National Diversified Sales, Inc., a provider of rainwater management and landscape irrigation. In June 2016, the takeover of Parker Autoline, a subsidiary of Parker-Hannifin, was announced, whereby Norma will continue to grow in the Asian area.

In January 2017, the Norma Group acquired the Portuguese manufacturer of metal clamps Lifial - Indústria Metalúrgica de Águeda, Lda. and thus gained new end customers in North Africa. In March 2017, the Norma Group took over 80 percent of the shares in the Chinese manufacturer of connection products Fengfan Fastener.

Products and areas of application

The Norma Group develops, produces and sells around 40,000 connection solutions for industrial applications.

The areas of application include:

  • Infrastructure: pipeline systems, drinking water supply, sewage systems, irrigation and drainage systems
  • Emissions control: fuel supply, engine ventilation, exhaust systems
  • Cooling systems: transmission and control cooling, air conditioning, heating and cooling circuit
  • Air supply: fresh air systems, charge air coolers, charge air connections

Norma is for around 10,000 customers in the oil, gas and chemical, water and wastewater, infrastructure and irrigation, passenger cars, motorcycles, aerospace, rail vehicles, ships, commercial vehicles, construction, agriculture, mining, mechanical engineering and other sectors as well Trading company.
