history

Until the church is planted

Ried belonged to the Munich Rent Office and the Friedberg Regional Court of the Electorate of Bavaria . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

Incorporations

Sirchenried and Zillenberg were incorporated on January 1, 1972. Hörmannsberg joined on July 1, 1972, Baindlkirch and Eismannsberg joined on May 1, 1978.

Erwin Gerstlacher (CSU) has been mayor since 2014; he was elected on March 15, 2020 with 93.3% for a further six years. Predecessors were Anton Drexl (CSU) (2002–2014) and Johann Klaß (Free Community of Voters / Non-Party) (1990–2002).

The municipal council for the 2014 to 2020 term of office consisted of the first mayor and 14 councilors.

Economy and Infrastructure

Economy including agriculture and forestry

According to official statistics, there were 399 jobs subject to social security contributions in the municipality in 2017. Of the resident population, 1288 were in an employment relationship subject to compulsory insurance. The number of out-commuters was 889 more than that of in-commuters. 35 residents were unemployed. In 2016 there were 48 farms. 2113 hectares of the municipal area are used for agriculture, of which 1811 hectares were arable land and 299 hectares were permanent green space.

education

In 2012 the following institutions existed:

  • 87 kindergarten places with 80 children
  • An elementary school with seven teachers and 112 students in five classes

Personalities

Günter Schottenhammer has been a posthumous honorary citizen of the Ried community since September 2006 . Due to his selfless sacrifice, the district of Zillenberg escaped a catastrophe on November 26, 1964. Schottenhammer crashed with his Bundeswehr machine RF-84F Thunderflash near the place. Had he left the machine in an ejector seat, it would probably have fallen into place. He left behind his wife and a nine-day-old child.
