The Royal Bank of Scotland Tiburon Challenger 2009 was a tennis tournament that was held in Tiburon from October 12-18 , 2009 . It was part of the ATP Challenger Tour 2009 and was played outdoors on hard courts. The tournament returned to the ATP Challenger Tour this season after a five-year break .

The individual winner was the unseeded Japanese Gō Soeda , who defeated the unseeded Serb Ilija Bozoljac in three sets in the final. It was Soeda's sixth success in an individual tournament on the ATP Challenger Tour. The winner of the last competition in 2004 was KJ Hippensteel , who did not take part in the tournament this year.

In doubles, Treat Conrad Huey and Harsh Mankad , who were placed third, were victorious in the final against Ilija Bozoljac and Dušan Vemić, who were one rank higher . The title defense of 2004, André Sá and Bruno Soares , both failed to defend their title.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. There was a qualifying round for both the singles competition with 16 players and the doubles competition with four doubles, through which four players in singles and one pairing for the main draw could qualify.

There were three cancellations in the run-up to the tournament. In the singles, Artem Sitak moved into the main draw as the lucky loser for Ryan Sweeting . In doubles, Fernando Vicente had to withdraw due to problems with his cervical spine and Greg Oullette due to an ankle injury. In their place played Thomas Fabbiano / Matteo Marrai and Mason Fuller / Artem Sitak, who had previously failed in the qualification.
