The Santa Rita de Siguas district is located in the Arequipa Province in the Arequipa region in southwestern Peru . The district was established on December 30, 1944. It has an area of ​​425 km². The 2017 census counted 6,962 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 2716, in 2007 it was 4456. The district administration is located in the 1268  m high town of Santa Rita de Siguas with 6742 inhabitants (as of 2017). Santa Rita de Siguas is located 60 km west-southwest of the provincial and regional capital Arequipa .

Geographical location

The Santa Rita de Siguas district is located in the extreme southwest of the Arequipa province. The district is bordered in the south by the Río Vítor . The western district boundary runs near the Río Siguas, a right tributary of the Río Vítor. The area consists of desert. However, part of the area is being made arable by means of irrigation and larger settlement areas are emerging.

The Santa Rita de Siguas District is bordered to the west by the district Quilca ( province Camaná ), in the northwest of the district of San Juan de Siguas , to the north by the District of Santa Isabel de Siguas and to the east and the south by the district Vítor .
