Until the church is planted

Around 1200 the ministerial family of the "Chranichsberg" built the castle. The castle Kranzberg was until its destruction by Swedish troops in 1632 official residence of the Duke of Bavaria District Court Kranzberg not rebuilt, was the castle afterwards. Nevertheless, Kranzberg was the seat of a Wittelsbach regional court until 1802. Due to the secularization of the neighboring Hochstift Freising and its incorporation into the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1803, Kranzberg lost its importance. Freising became the seat of the regional court. The St. Pantaleon Castle Chapel, rebuilt in 1666, was demolished in 1807. Kranzberg became an independent political municipality in the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria in 1818.

Incorporations

As part of the municipal area reform , the previously independent municipalities of Hohenbercha and Thalhausen were incorporated on July 1, 1971. Parts of Tünzhausen and Wippenhausen were added on January 1, 1972. Gremertshausen followed on July 1, 1972.

Prehistoric settlement

In the autumn of 1998 the amateur archaeologists Dr. Manfred Moosauer and Traudl Bachmaier found a gold diadem and amber objects in the area of a fortified Bronze Age settlement near Bernstorf. Engraved pieces of amber show incisions in Mycenaean Linear B script and thus show historical connections to the Mediterranean region. The gold find from Bernstorf is now in the possession of the Archaeological State Collection in Munich .
