geography
The place is four kilometers as the crow flies from the Ionian coast and is divided into Squillace Superiore (on the hill) and Squillace Lido (directly on the coast).
Most of the tourists stay in Squillace Lido throughout the summer. Squillace is very popular with the northern Italians. You rarely see foreign tourists.
The nearest airport, Lamezia Terme Airport , is around 50 km away. In Squillace Lido the single-track railway line from Taranto to Reggio Calabria runs through, but does not stop. The station was closed in the 1990s. The next train station in the north is Catanzaro Lido and in the south Soverato.
The most attractive sights in Squillace are il Castello Normanno (the Norman castle), il Duomo (the cathedral) and il Ponte del Diavolo (the bridge of the devil).
