The Seat 600 is a two-door small car with a rear engine that Seat brought onto the market in 1957. It corresponded exactly to the Fiat 600 that had been launched two years earlier and had a 4-cylinder in-line engine with 633 cm³ displacement and an output of 16 kW / 21.5 PS. Its top speed was 95 km / h. From 1959 a more powerful engine (21 kW / 28.5 PS) was installed, which could accelerate the vehicle up to 100 km / h. As a Spanish specialty, there was the Seat 600 Furgoneta Comercial , the rear side windows of which were laminated . Instead of the rear seats, he had a sheet metal box for transporting goods.
In 1963 - again two years after the Italian model - the Seat 600 D was introduced. Its engine was bigger (767 cm³) and again a bit more powerful (23.5 kW / 32 PS). In addition to the two-door sedan, there was a Seat 600 D Descapotable convertible sedan and - as a Spanish specialty - a four-door sedan with an extended wheelbase ( Seat 600 Sedan ). This vehicle was particularly popular as a taxi, but also popular with young families. From 1964 it was called - according to the actual displacement - Seat 800 . After its discontinuation, the tradition of the small four-door model was continued with the Seat 850 and the Seat 127 .
When the production of the Fiat 600 had already ceased, Seat brought out the Seat 600 E in 1970 . In contrast to the previous model, it had front-hinged doors. In 1973 the production of the Seat 600 was finally given up.
