Seo Young-jae ( kor. 서영재 , born May 23, 1995 in Wonju ), known in German-speaking countries under the name sequence Young-Jae Seo , is a South Korean soccer player who has been under contract with Holstein Kiel since the 2019/20 second division season .

Career

Seo played soccer at Hanyang University in Seoul before completing a trial session with the professional team of Hamburger SV , which was trained by Bruno Labbadia in the summer of 2015 . On August 25, 2015, Seo was given a contract until June 30, 2018 and integrated into the squad of the second team that competes in the fourth-class Regionalliga Nord . In the 2015/16 season , the left-back made 21 appearances. In August 2016, Seo pulled an external meniscus tear and was out until the end of the year, so that he came to twelve missions in the 2016/17 season in which he scored one goal. In the 2017/18 season , Seo completed 19 of the 20 possible games under Christian Titz and became autumn champions with his team .

After Titz was promoted to head coach of the professionals on March 13, 2018, he moved Seo up to the professional squad. On March 17, 2018, he was in a Bundesliga match for the first time in the matchday squad, but was not substituted in in the 1: 2 home defeat of HSV against Hertha BSC . In the other games, Seo was no longer nominated for the matchday squad and continued to play in the second team, for which he scored a goal in 27 missions this season.

After his contract expired, Seo moved to the 2nd Bundesliga for MSV Duisburg for the 2018/19 season , where he signed a contract with a term until June 30, 2020. After he was not used under Ilija Gruew , he made his debut on December 14, 2018 under his successor Torsten Lieberknecht in a 1: 2 defeat against his former club in the 2nd Bundesliga . In total, Seo came to 7 second division appearances. After the descent of the MSV in the 3rd division , the defender left the club.

For the season 2019/20 Seo moved to Holstein Kiel . He received a contract until the end of the season with last year's sixth of the 2nd Bundesliga.
