Sergei Anatoljewitsch Yashin ( Russian Сергей Анатольевич Яшин ; born March 6, 1962 in Penza , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player and current coach .

Career

Sergei Yashin played from 1978 to 1980 for Diselist Penza in the second-rate Soviet Pervaya League . During the 1979/8080 season he moved to Dynamo Moscow , with whom he became Soviet champion in 1990 and was runner-up several times. He was also a member of the Soviet national team .

In 1988 he was named the Honored Master of Sports of the USSR and received the Badge of Honor of the Soviet Union .

During the NHL Entry Draft 1989 he was selected in the seventh round in a total of 141st place by those responsible for the Edmonton Oilers . In the 1990/91 season he played at Dynamo Berlin in the 1st Bundesliga . After only one year he left Germany again and signed a contract with HC Davos from Switzerland in the summer of 1991 . In 1992 he then moved back to his Russian homeland to SKA St. Petersburg . From 1992 to 1994 he played at EHC Essen . In 1994 he joined EC Wilhelmshaven , where he stayed until 1997. In the 1997/98 season he was again active in Russia at Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk . In 1998 he played for the ERC Selb . From 1998 to 2000 he showed his skills again at EC Wilhelmshaven.

Sergei Yashin has been working as a trainer since 2000 ; until 2005 with the Jadehaien Wilhelmshaven . He was promoted to the German junior league in 2002 with the Jadehaie U20 team . In the 2005/06 season he coached the Revierlöwen Oberhausen , who were then active in the third-highest German ice hockey league , the ice hockey league . From 2006 to 2008 he was on the gang of the Rostock Piranhas and achieved promotion to the league with them in 2007. From 2008 to 2010 he trained the Groningen Grizzlies in the Netherlands . From 2010 he was head coach of the Weserstars Bremen . From 2011 he also coached the Bremen EC school team.

Jashin has been the head coach of the newly founded EC Wilhelmshaven-Sande since 2015, with whom he rose twice in a row.
