Sydney Howard Smith
Sydney Howard Smith (born February 3, 1872 in Stroud , † March 27, 1947 ibid) was an English tennis and badminton player .
Career
Sydney Smith won the first men's individual competition in badminton at the All England 1900 . In the same year he was also in tennis at Wimbledon in the individual finals , but lost there to Reginald Doherty . With Frank Riseley he won doubles at Wimbledon in 1902 and 1906 . From 1897 to 1906 he was Welsh tennis champion. In 1905 and 1906 he was a member of the victorious British Davis Cup team .
