The State Street is one of the oldest streets in Boston in the state of Massachusetts of the United States . It is 2,600 ft (792.5 m) long and runs from the mouth to the Washington Street and Court Street to the east past the Old State House and Boston Custom House to Long Wharf , where connection to the ferries of the MBTA is. The Blue Line subway runs parallel to the street and is accessible via the Aquarium and State stations .

history

The first Puritan settlers built their houses along what was then Market Street , which was called King Street from 1708 to 1788 . It received its current, non-royalist name in the course of the War of Independence and is now particularly known as a location for banks and financial companies.
