Location of the municipality of Stetten in the Lake Constance district | ||
With just over 1000 inhabitants, Stetten is the smallest independent municipality in the Lake Constance district in Baden-Württemberg ( Germany ).
geography
Stetten is located on the north shore of Lake Constance , about two kilometers northeast of Meersburg . The Stettener district borders south between Meersburg-Haltnau and Hagnau over a length of 1100 meters directly on the shore of Lake Constance. This section of the bank is freely accessible, natural with the typical round pebbles and the steep drop from shallow to deep water ("rocks"). In the Stetten area, a narrow strip of bushes and old trees continuously separates the beach and the Meersburg – Stetten – Hagnau riverside path. The area rising north from the shores of Lake Constance to the town of Stetten is planted with vines.
history
The village was first mentioned in a deed of donation from the year 752 in favor of the St. Gallen monastery under the name Altstadi .
The German war cemetery Meersburg-Lerchenberg , which lies about halfway between Meersburg and Hagnau on the Höhenweg, is accessible from the Stetten district .
Until December 31, 1972, the community of Stetten belonged to the district of Überlingen .
politics

coat of arms
Blazon : "A golden sword crossed diagonally in blue with a golden key with a three-pass hatch and a beard pointing upwards and outwards."
Partner communities
Stetten's partner municipality is Mareau-aux-Prés in France , about eight kilometers southwest of Orléans on the Loire.
Regular events
The local clubs organize a large number of events over the course of the year. In addition to smaller tournaments, concerts or performances, there are also larger festivities such as the wine festival, patronage or carnival. For this purpose, the Hasle-Maale community of fools maintains the Swabian-Alemannic carnival with the carnival figures Hasle-Maale, forest spirit and farmer.
Economy and Infrastructure
economy
Stetten is still dominated by fruit and wine growing , resulting in several smaller distilleries for the production of local fires , spirits and liqueurs established. Increasingly during the harvest season, products can be purchased directly from the producer in farm shops or street stalls. The Aufricht winery is located in the Stetten area on the Meersburg – Hagnau Höhenweg and received the excellent award of three grapes from the Gault-Millau wine guide . Closer to Hagnau, on the Höhenweg, is Thomas Pfisterer's Auhof, who cultivates fruit and wine according to Demeter guidelines. Tourism also plays an important role, especially in the summer months . Furthermore, freelancers and service providers have chosen Stetten as their location and place of residence.
traffic
Stetten is on the federal highway 31 between Meersburg and Hagnau . The federal highway 33 cuts the place in two halves.
In connection with efforts to establish a bypass road in the B31-10G-BW project, several options are controversially discussed with neighboring communities.
The community belongs to the Bodensee-Oberschwaben Verkehrsverbund ( bodo ) and is connected to the nearby cities by several bus routes.
