Susan Hearnshaw

Susan "Sue" Hearnshaw (later Telfer, now Richardson; born May 26, 1961 in Liversedge , West Yorkshire ) is a former British long jumper .

In 1978 she was starting fourth for England at the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton and was eliminated from qualification at the European Athletics Championships in Prague .

At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow she was ninth and fifth at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane.

In 1984 she won the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1984 in Gothenburg with a width of 6.70 m. In the same year she secured the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles with 6.80 m behind the two Romanians Anișoara Stanciu (6.96 m) and Vali Ionescu-Constantin (6.81 m).

In 1979 and 1984 she became English Champion, 1980 and 1984 British Champion and 1984 English Indoor Champion.

Susan Hearnshaw is 1.78 m tall and weighed 67 kg at competition times. She started for Hull Spartan. Her mother Muriel Pletts finished fourth in the British 4 x 100 meter relay at the 1948 Olympic Games in London.
