The Spor Toto Türkiye 3. Futbol Ligi 2003/04 was the third season of the fourth-highest Turkish division in professional men's football. It began on August 30, 2003 with the 1st game day and ended on May 16, 2004 with the 32nd and final game day.

Competition mode

In the 2003/04 season, the TFF 3rd Lig was played differently from the previous season as a four-track league. The total number of teams was reduced from 76 to 68. These 68 teams played in four groups with 17 teams each for promotion to the 2nd league or against relegation to the amateur league. All of the first placed went straight to the second league , while the teams in the last three places in the table of all groups were relegated to the regional amateur league.

In contrast to the previous season, the number of promoted teams has been increased from four teams to six. In order to increase the attractiveness of the league, a playoff system was introduced, as has already happened in the upper leagues. This should be played out after the regular season operation in the knockout system and in a place that is neutral for all participants and determine the last two promoted players. The four runners-up from all groups qualified for the playoffs.

Composition of participants

Beginning of the season, the six relegated from were the remaining from the previous season 55 teams TFF 2. Lig Silopi Cudispor , Hakkarispor , Çubukspor , Tokatspor , Gaziosmanpaşaspor , Kütahyaspor the seven newcomers Akşehirspor , ARAKLISPOR , Tarım Kredispor , Yeniköyspor , Altınordu Izmir , Orhangazispor and Murgul Bakırspor has been added. The newcomers had been accepted as champions from the then regional amateur leagues and were allowed to take part in the TFF 3rd Lig.

Season course

League phase

Karamanspor ( Group 1 ), Gençlerbirliği ASAŞ ( Group 2 ), Pendikspor ( Group 3 ), Alanyaspor ( Group 4 ) achieved the championship of the 3rd Lig in their groups and thus the direct promotion to the 2nd Lig . Relegated were end of the season Silopi Cudispor , Yozgatspor , Hakkarispor ( Group 1 ), Artvin Hopaspor , Merzifonspor , Murgul Bakırspor ( Group 2 ), Sapancaspor , Tekirdağspor , Eskisehir Şekerspor ( Group 3 ) and Orhangazispor , Afyonspor , Bursa Kestelspor ( Group 4 ) fixed .

Playoff phase

By reaching 2nd place in the table, Batman Belediyespor , Ünyespor , Beykozspor and Oyak Renault SK qualified for participation in the playoffs. In the playoff phase, these four teams should determine the two indirect promoted teams in two finals, with the playoffs taking place in a location that is neutral for all teams.

Both playoff games were played in Konya in late May 2004. By lottery, Ünyespor met Batman Belediyespor and Oyak Renault SK met Beykozspor. Ünyespor achieved promotion to the TFF 2. Lig with a 5: 1 win and Oyak Renault with a 4: 0 victory.
