Coat of arms of those of Theler

The von Theler family was an old Freiberg patrician or aristocratic family . a. had possessions in the Mark Meissen , Lausitz and Bohemia .

history

The oldest members of the family mentioned in the literature are Conrad, Thiemann and Heinrich von Theler from Freiberg , who were in the service of the Margraves of Meißen from 1093 . 1316-30 Conrad von Theler and his son of the same name went to war for the Margraves of Meißen and afterwards received the Höckendorf manor and founded the mines around this place and in Edle Krone . After the partial destruction on August 25, 1557 by a downpour, these were sold in 1565 with the Höckendorf manor to the Elector August of Saxony.

The seven Theler columns (1332/1360) from the 14th century between Höckendorf and Obercunnersdorf go back to one of these Conrad von Theler , of which three are still preserved. The same goes for the hereditary burial and the altar (1334–37) in the Höckendorfer Church , which stands with the farm next to it to the south on the foundation walls of the manor that was destroyed in the 16th century by Elector Christian II of Saxony. In addition to Höckendorf, the family owned the manors and lordships of Potschappel , Neschwitz , Ober- and Nieder-Gersdorf and Laasow . The von Theler family became extinct after 1792 in the male line.
