2. Bundesliga North and South

The 2010/11 Bundesliga was the 45th season for men and the 36th season for women in the top German table tennis division. Champions were Borussia Düsseldorf and FSV Kroppach .

Men

Ten teams took part in the men's category, new were the TTC Ruhrstadt Herne and TSV Graefelfing , who had replaced the relegated TTC indeland Jülich and TTC Frickenhausen . The best four teams after the end of the regular season took part in the play-off rounds to determine the German champions. Borussia Düsseldorf beat TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen in two finals and became German champions for the 24th time. The ninth and tenth placed teams should relegate to one of the groups of the 2nd Bundesliga; However, only the TTC Frickenhausen moved up from below, so that the TTC Ruhrstadt Herne could remain in the 1st Bundesliga despite being ninth. This season was initially the last in which doubles were played, from 2011/12 onwards , three to five singles were played according to the Champions League system .

TTC Jülich (champion 2nd BL North) and Borussia Dortmund (2nd 2nd BL North) did without promotion to the 1st Bundesliga .

Play-offs

The semi-final first legs took place on April 10, the second legs on April 23 and 24.

The final first leg took place on May 21st, the second leg on June 5th. After Düsseldorf won the first leg 3-1, things got tight again in the final. Ochsenhausen took a 2-0 lead, in the third game it was 2-2 in the meantime, so that the TTF would only have needed one set to win. In the end, however, Borussia managed to turn the game around and win 3-2.

Women

In the women’s only 9 teams took part, because for the relegated TV Busenbach , TuS Bad Driburg and Hannover 96 only TSV Schwabhausen and TTK Anröchte were up. The latter, however, immediately descended and was replaced by the TTC Langweid . FSV Kroppach became champion for the fifth time .

Hannover 96 (champion 2nd BL North) and TuS Uentrop (2nd 2nd BL North) did without promotion to the 1st Bundesliga .
