The University of Sydney (English. University of Sydney ) is the oldest university in Australia . It was founded in Sydney in 1850 .

history

The university was founded on October 1, 1850 with the University of Sydney Act . Two years later, it opened on October 11, 1852. It belongs to the Group of Eight , the universities with the best reputation in Australia and is one of the forty most prestigious universities in the world.

The main campus is in Camperdown , a part of Sydney's inner west. The sandstone building in neo-Gothic style were by Edmund Blacket designed and created the 1,862th The acquisition of additional campus space and the takeover of previously independent schools enabled rapid development since the middle of the 20th century.
