history
Kastl was first mentioned in a document in 1233 and belonged to the Burghausen Rent Office and the Neuötting Regional Court of the Electorate of Bavaria . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria in 1818 it became an independent political municipality. On January 1, 1966, the old communities Oberkastl, Unterkastl and Forstkastl were merged to form today's municipality of Kastl. In addition to its agricultural character, Kastl is now also a residential community. There is a Catholic kindergarten and a primary school in the village. One of the sights is the old Gothic parish church of St. Kastulus ( the place got its name from the martyr Castulus ) from 1504. After the renovation in 2004, it is one of the most beautiful village churches in the area. There is a country inn with its own butcher shop on the village square. In the municipality there are still two old brick factories that have not been in operation for a number of years. Old farms - often extensively renovated - also belong to the area of this area municipality.
On January 1, 1978, the community ceded peripheral areas to the neighboring communities of Altötting and Burgkirchen an der Alz .
Population development
Between 1988 and 2018 the community grew from 1,842 to 2,777 by 935 inhabitants or 50.8%.
