Vítor Manuel Norte Ribeiro (born January 29, 1951 in Borba ) is a Portuguese actor.

Life

After graduating from business school in Estremoz , he ran away from home at the age of 17 and went to Lisbon . There he took on various odd jobs, including a. Driver for a catering company at Lisbon-Portela Airport . Following a newspaper ad, he signed up for a casting for dancers in a revue play . The choreographer saw talent in him and persuaded him to take up ballet training. He enrolled in Ana Máscolo's school and studied classical ballet.

In January 1972 he was on a theater stage for the first time, in the revue play Os Quatro Cubos in the Casa da Comédia , staged by director Herlânder Peyroteo . As part of the Picadilly Stars Ballet , he danced one more season, in P´rá Frente Lisboa in the Teatro Monumental , then he was drafted into military service by the Estado Novo regime. He was posted to Guinea-Bissau in the Portuguese colonial war . After almost three years, he returned from the military in 1975 and went back to the revue theater at the Teatro Monumental . He played minor roles until Peyroteo hired him again in 1982 for a role in Christopher Marlowe's Doutor Fausto at the 1 ° Acto theater in Algés . This was followed by the first television roles, in formats as varied as the telenovela Vila Faia , the crime series Duarte & Ca , or the Portuguese Sesame Street . He also began to work as a film actor.

He continued to play theater, for example in plays by Bertolt Brecht , Gil Vicente and EA Whitehead, but now he turned primarily to television and cinema. So he played in numerous telenovelas, sitcoms , series, television films and theater plays for television. His roles also increased in the cinema, mostly in auteur films .

Vítor Norte was married to actress Carla Lupi from 1994 to 2002 , with whom he has two children. Daughter Sara Norte and son Diogo Norte have also become actors.

In addition to his numerous television roles, he is also a well-known face in the films of Portugal, in which he often plays the original and down-to-earth average Portuguese who, despite all the inevitable compromises, has not been bent in his innermost being by life or education. Vítor Norte is one of the busiest actors in Portugal and one of the most renowned contemporary actors in Portuguese film . He has already been awarded the Globo de Ouro for "Best Actor" three times , for the first time at the Globos de Ouro 2000 , for his roles in Leonel Vieiras A Sombra dos Abutres and António-Pedro Vasconcelos ´ Jaime .
