The Gmina Wałcz ( community Deutsch Krone ) is a rural community (gmina wiejska) in the southeast of the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship , on the border with the Greater Poland Voivodeship . The main seat of the municipality is the town of Wałcz ( Deutsch Krone ), which itself does not belong to the municipality. With a municipality area of ​​575.09 km², the rural municipality Wałcz is the largest municipality in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The rural municipality of Wałcz has 12,665 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2019). Until 1998 it belonged to the Piła Voivodeship .

Rail transport

By 1945, four railway lines met in Deutsch Krone, one of which is still served today by the Polish State Railways (PKP):

The line 416 Wałcz – Wierzchowo ( Deutsch Krone – Virchow ) was discontinued in 1992.

The railway lines from Deutsch Krone to Flatow (now Polish: Złotów) and from Deutsch Krone via Schloppe (Człopa) to Kreuz (Krzyż Wielkopolski) also no longer exist .
