The 1952 election to the United States Senate for the 83rd United States Congress took place on November 4th. It was part of the election in the United States that day and coincided with the presidential election in which Dwight D. Eisenhower was elected to succeed President Harry S. Truman .

The 32 class I seats were available for election , and there were also 3 by-elections for senators who left office prematurely. 14 of these were occupied by Democrats and 21 by Republicans . Twenty incumbents were re-elected, including 6 Democrats and 14 Republicans. The Republicans captured 6 seats previously held by Democrats and the Democrats captured 4 seats. This improved the Republicans from 46 to 48 seats, the Democrats lost their narrow majority of 49 seats and only had 47. In addition, there was Senator Wayne Morse , who had been elected as a Republican in 1950 but had left the party and became an independent belonged to the Senate.
