The 1984 election to the United States Senate for the 99th United States Congress took place on November 6th. It was part of the election in the United States that day and coincided with the presidential election , in which Ronald Reagan was re-elected in a landslide victory.

The 33 Class II seats were available for election, there were no by-elections for senators who left office prematurely. 14 of these senators belonged to the Democratic Party and 19 to the Republicans . 26 incumbents were able to defend their seats, 11 Democrats and 15 Republicans. 3 seats moved from Republicans to Democrats, one in the opposite direction. This reduced the Republican majority from 55 to 53 seats and the Democrats improved from 45 to 47.
