history

The place was first mentioned by name in 1439 as "Weydenmul". The defining word of the place name is the tree genus willow .

Towards the end of the 18th century, the willow mill belonged to Unterrottmannsdorf. It had the Ansbach owner von Förster as landlord. When the house numbers were assigned at the beginning of the 19th century, the property was given house numbers 18 and 19 for the village of Unterrottmannsdorf.

As part of the community edict, Weidenmühle was assigned to the Saxony tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Saxony, founded in 1810 . With the second community edict (1818), Weidenmühle was re-incorporated into the newly formed rural community Unterrottmannsdorf . This was incorporated into the municipality of Lichtenau on January 1, 1972 as part of the regional reform .

It operated as a flour and sawmill until 1970.
