Wenzlow is a municipality in office Ziesar of the district Potsdam-Mittelmark in Brandenburg .
geography
Wenzlow is located between the cities of Ziesar and Brandenburg an der Havel in the west of Brandenburg. The community borders immediately to the south with the independent city of Brandenburg an der Havel, the regional center of the region. The Verlorenwasser and the Holzbuckau flow through the community . Both are tributaries of the Buckau , which drains to the Havel .
Wenzlow's neighboring communities are clockwise Brandenburg an der Havel in the north, Wollin in the east and south, Trenches in the extreme south, Ziesar in the west and Rosenau in the northwest. The community is primarily located on areas of the Baruther glacial valley . Western parts of Wenzlow can already be counted as part of the Fiener Bruch .
Community structure
The community includes the core town of Wenzlow, the district of Boecke and the district of Grüningen .
history
The places Wenzlow, Grüningen and Boecke were until 1571 in the Hochstift Brandenburg , the imperial principality of the bishops of the diocese of Brandenburg . Since 1817 they belonged to the Jerichow I district in the Prussian province of Saxony . Grüningen was incorporated into Wenzlow on July 1, 1950.
Wenzlow and Boecke were incorporated into the Brandenburg-Land district in the GDR district of Potsdam in 1952 . Since 1993 they have been in the Brandenburg district of Potsdam-Mittelmark.
Boecke has been part of the municipality since March 1, 2002.

- Protected areas
In the 1990s, the lowlands of the Fiener Bruch west of the municipality of Wenzlow were designated as an EU bird protection area Fiener Bruch as part of the Natura 2000 network . The Fiener Bruch is one of only three breeding areas left for the Great Bustard , the heaviest bird capable of flying, which is threatened with extinction in Germany .
