Schwielowsee is a municipality in the district of Potsdam-Mittelmark ( Brandenburg ) on Schwielowsee . It was created in 2002 through the merger of the three communities Caputh , Ferch and Geltow .

The municipality has been a state-approved resort since 2010 with two districts and since 2012 with the entire municipality .

The community is located immediately southwest of Potsdam on the eponymous Schwielowsee at a bend in the Havel . The districts of Geltow and Caputh are connected to each other by the Caputh ferry . In the east the community borders directly on the urban area of ​​Potsdam.

Office Schwielowsee

In the course of the formation of offices in Brandenburg, the Minister of the Interior of the State of Brandenburg gave his consent to the creation of the Schwielowsee office on October 13, 1992. October 20, 1992 was determined as the date for the establishment of the office. The approval was limited until October 20, 1994. The seat of the office was the municipality of Caputh . At the time the office was established, the following communities in what was then the Potsdam district were assigned:

  3. Geltow

The time limit was lifted from September 12, 1994. The community Schwielowsee was created on December 31, 2002 through the voluntary amalgamation of the previously independent communities Caputh, Ferch and Geltow. The Schwielowsee office was dissolved at the same time, and the Schwielowsee municipality was vacant.

The community lies on the Jüterbog – Nauen railway line . The stops Caputh-Geltow , Caputh-Schwielowsee and Ferch-Lienewitz are served by the regional train line RB 23 Potsdam - Michendorf .

Bus 607 runs from Potsdam Hauptbahnhof via Caputh to Ferch. In the summer months it will be extended beyond Ferch to Werder (Havel) station.

From spring to autumn there is a shipping line on Schwielowsee that connects the Potsdam Lange Brücke pier with all parts of the community.
