The Potsdam-Land district was formed in 1952 in the Potsdam district of the German Democratic Republic . From 1990 to 1993 it existed as the district of Potsdam in the state of Brandenburg . Today his area belongs to the district of Potsdam-Mittelmark and to the state capital Potsdam in Brandenburg. Its administrative seat was the city of Potsdam, which itself did not belong to the district.

history

The district was newly formed on July 25, 1952 as part of an administrative reform from parts of the Zauch-Belzig district of the then state of Brandenburg. At the same time the states of the GDR were dissolved and 14 districts were created. The Potsdam-Land district was assigned to the Potsdam district . At that time there was a district subdivision between Potsdam-Stadt and Potsdam-Land. Certain authorities, organizations and companies existed together for both sub-districts, but others were separated by city and district. With the reunification in 1990, the Potsdam-Land district became a district under German municipal law and was renamed the Potsdam district on May 17, 1990. After German reunification in 1990, the countries in the accession area were reorganized. Thus, the district of Potsdam became a part of the state of Brandenburg on October 3 or finally on October 14, 1990 (date of the state election). The seat of the district administration was the city of Potsdam.

District municipalities and cities

All places are listed that were independent communities on July 25, 1952 when the district was founded. Parishes have moved in that have lost their independence by December 5, 1993 and have been incorporated into larger neighboring parishes or have merged with another parish.

In the course of the formation of offices in Brandenburg in 1992, the offices of Groß Kreutz , Michendorf , Fahrland , Schwielowsee , Rehbrücke , Stahnsdorf , Beelitz and Werder were formed in the Potsdam-Land district. Göhlsdorf joined the Lehnin office , which was mainly located in the Brandenburg-Land district .

As a result of the district reform in the state of Brandenburg, the district of Potsdam was merged on December 6, 1993, together with the districts of Belzig and Brandenburg (excluding the city of Brandenburg an der Havel ) to form the district of Potsdam-Mittelmark . The new district administration took its seat in Belzig (since 2010 Bad Belzig ).

License Plate

Motor vehicles (with the exception of motorcycles) and trailers were assigned three-letter distinctive signs starting with the letter pairs DP , DR , DS and DT from around 1974 to the end of 1990 . The last number plate series used for motorcycles was DX 00-01 to DX 40-00 .

In early 1991, the county and the city of Potsdam received the distinguishing sign P . It was issued for the district until the end of 1993.
