geography

The area of ​​the municipality lies in the historical landscape of the Zauche . It is named after the river Plane , which flows through the municipality in the southwest. To the northeast of the municipality is the Lehnin military training area of the Bundeswehr. Planebruch borders in the north and east on the unofficial community of Kloster Lehnin , in the south on the town of Brück, which is part of the government, in the southwest on the unofficial town of Bad Belzig , in the west and northwest on the community of Golzow (Amt Brück).

history

Cammer, Damelang and Freienthal belonged to the Zauch-Belzig district in the Prussian province of Brandenburg since 1817 and to the Belzig district in the GDR district of Potsdam from 1952 . Oberjünne was spun off from Cammer in 1939 and from 1952 belonged to the Brandenburg-Land district .

The municipalities of Damelang and Freienthal were merged on February 1, 1974 to form the municipality of Damelang-Freienthal.

Since 1993 all places have been in the Brandenburg district of Potsdam-Mittelmark.

The municipality of Planebruch was created on January 31, 2002 from the voluntary amalgamation of the previously independent municipalities of Cammer and Damelang-Freienthal. On April 1, 2002, the municipality of Oberjünne was incorporated.
