Wolfgang Neuss is a former German rower .

Life

Wolfgang Neuss comes from Frankfurt am Main (Höchst). As a member of the Nassovia Höchst rowing club , he won the German championship title in two with helmsman in 1961 together with Klaus-Günther Jordan and helmsman Karl-Joachim Wolff . In 1962 and 1963 Neuss and Jordan won the German championships with the helmsman Frank Steinhäuser , and in the Olympic year 1964 they took third place. In 1963 Neuss and Jordan also took second place in the two without a helmsman behind Günther Zumkeller and Dieter Bender from Constance .

Internationally, Neuss and Jordan competed in both boat classes. In 1962, the two became the first Germans to win in two without a helmsman at the international rowing competition in Henley after the war . At the rowing world championships , which were held for the first time in 1962 , Neuss and Jordan competed with Frank Steinhäuser in a controlled two-man. In the final of the World Championships in Lucerne they won ahead of the Romanians and the boat from the Soviet Union. At the European Championships in 1963, the two-man with helmsman won the same line-up as at the World Championships last year.
