The Wysschaja League of Tajikistan ( Russian Высшая лига Таджикистана ; German about Supreme League ) is the top division of the national football association of Tajikistan and has been played since the country's independence in 1992.
history
In the league system of the Soviet Union , Pamir Dushanbe was the only representative from Tajikistan to reach the first-class Soviet Wysschaya League for three seasons . After the collapse of the Soviet Union and the independence of Tajikistan organized Tajikistan Football Federation , the Wysschaja League Tajikistan in 1992 participating as the highest national football league with 12 teams. The number of participating teams changed annually, the maximum was 16 participating clubs in the 1993 season. In the last few years the league was played with ten clubs, for the 2017 season the number was reduced by two more. As previously in the Soviet Union, the season follows the annual cycle and runs from March to October.
Currently, the participating teams compete in round-robin depending on the number of participants two to four times against each other. The club with the most points at the end of the season is Tajik football champions and qualifies for the AFC Cup . The runner-up is also qualified for this competition. The Pervaya League forms the substructure of the Wysschaya League .
