Zásmuky ( German Sasmuk ) is a city in the Czech Republic . It is located 14 kilometers southwest of Kolín and belongs to the Okres Kolín .
geography
Zásmuky is located at the transition from the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands to the Bohemian Table on the Špandava brook, a tributary to the Výrovka . To the northeast lies the Bečvárka valley with the Podbečvárský rybník pond. The state road Silnice I / 2 between Prague and Kutná Hora and the secondary railway line from Pečky to Bečváry run through the city .
Neighboring towns are Mlékovice in the north, Horní Chvatliny in the northeast, Bečváry in the east, Drahobudice in the southeast, Sobočice in the south, Nesměň, Hryzely and Barchovice in the southwest, Vršice and Doubravčany in the west and Toušice in the northwest.
history
Zásmuky was first mentioned in 1285 as the seat of Vladiken Sulislav ze Zásmuk. The Zásmucký von Zásmuky owned the place until the 15th century. In 1533 Adam von Říčany acquired Zásmuky. During his reign, Zásmuky was promoted to town in 1542 and was given a coat of arms.
The Říčanský held the property until 1583, when it was sold to Jan Vchynský of Vchynice . In 1635 Václav Michna von Vacínov acquired Zásmuky, who exchanged the rule in 1637 with Johann Rudolf von Sternberg for the rule of Postelberg and the estate of Wodolitz . In 1694 his son Ulrich Adolf Vratislav von Sternberg had the Franciscan monastery and the monastery church built.
In 1881 Zásmuky received a railway connection with the branch line to Pečky, which leads to the Prague - Kolín line. After the Second World War, Zásmuky lost its town charter. In 1948 the Counts of Sternberg were expropriated. The castle was then used by the army. In the 1980s, parts of the run-down building burned out.
Zásmuky has been a city again since 1992.

The town of Zásmuky consists of the districts Doubravčany ( Daubrawtschan ), Nesměň ( Nesmien , also Nesmen ), Sobočice ( Sobotschitz ), Vršice ( Wirschitz ) and Zásmuky ( Sasmuk ).
Attractions
- Zásmuky Castle; the early baroque building built from an old fortress is located on the market. The ruinous castle was restored to Diana Šternberková-Phipps in 1992 and is being renovated.
