Zirkenbach is a district of the East Hessian city ​​of Fulda .

geography

The district is located southwest of the core city at the confluence of the Saurode in the Giesel . The district road 101 runs through the place and connects it with Johannesberg in the east and Zell in the west.

history

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1160. The Ortweg , an old road , ran through the village .

On August 1, 1972, the previously independent municipality of Zirkenbach was incorporated into the city of Fulda by virtue of state law as part of the regional reform in Hesse .

Worth seeing

A distinctive mark of Zirkenbach is a village bell on the main road that day at 6 o'clock to 12 o'clock and at 18 o'clock the Angelus ringing. After the bell was destroyed in a fire in 1988, it was reconstructed in cooperation with the German Center for Crafts and Monument Preservation in Johannesberg and put on in 1991.
