Christopher H. Clark

Christopher Henderson Clark (born 1767 in Albemarle County , Colony of Virginia , †  November 21, 1828 near New London , Virginia ) was an American politician . Between 1804 and 1806 he represented the state of Virginia in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Christopher Clark was the older brother of James Clark (1779–1839), who was governor and congressman for Kentucky . He was also the uncle or great-uncle of Congressmen from Missouri , John Bullock Clark (1802-1885) and John Bullock Clark Jr. (1831-1903). He attended Washington College in Lexington , which later became Washington and Lee University . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1788, he began to work in this profession in New London, now Bedford Springs. At the same time he embarked on a political career. In 1790 he was a member of the Virginia House of Representatives . He later became a member of the Democratic Republican Party .

After the death of MP John Johns Trigg , Clark was elected as his successor to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC at the by-election due for the 13th seat of Virginia , where he took up his new mandate on November 5, 1804. After being re-elected, he could remain in Congress until his resignation on July 1, 1806 . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Christopher Clark practiced law again. He died near New London on November 21, 1828.
