Jared Williams

Jared Williams (born March 4, 1766 in Montgomery County , Province of Maryland , †  January 2, 1831 in Newton , Virginia ) was an American politician . Between 1819 and 1825 he represented the state of Virginia in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Jared Williams received a good education and then worked in agriculture. He settled in Virginia and embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Republican Party . Between 1812 and 1817 he was a member of the Virginia House of Representatives . In the congressional election of 1818 he was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the third constituency of Virginia , where he succeeded Henry St. George Tucker on March 4, 1819 . After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress by March 3, 1825 .

After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, Jared Williams no longer appeared politically. He died on January 2, 1831 near Newton.
