Thomas Croxton

Thomas Croxton (born March 8, 1822 in Tappahannock , Essex County , Virginia , †  July 3, 1903 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1885 and 1887 he represented the state of Virginia in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Thomas Croxton attended public schools in his home country. After a subsequent law degree at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and his admission as a lawyer in 1842, he began to work in Tappahannock in this profession. From 1852 he worked as a public prosecutor. During the Civil War he was a member of the Confederation Army on General George Edward Pickett's staff .

Politically, Croxton was a member of the Democratic Party . In the congressional election of 1884 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the first constituency of Virginia , where he succeeded George Tankard Garrison on March 4, 1885 . Since he was not confirmed in 1886, he could only serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1887 .

After his time in the US House of Representatives, Croxton practiced as a lawyer again. He was also involved in agriculture. Between 1892 and 1901 he served as a district judge in Essex County. He died in Tappahannock on July 3, 1903.
