Frank Rudolph Wolf (born January 30, 1939 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American politician . From 1981 to 2015 he represented the state of Virginia in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Frank Wolf studied at the University of Mississippi at Oxford , Pennsylvania State University and Georgetown University , where he studied law. Between 1962 and 1967 he was a member of the United States Army Reserve . Subsequently he practiced as a private lawyer. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Republican Party . From 1968 to 1971 he was on the staff of Congressman Edward G. Biester of Pennsylvania. He then worked for the US Department of the Interior until 1975 . In 1976 he tried unsuccessfully to nominate his party for the congressional elections. Two years later, he was nominated but not elected to Congress .

In the 1980 elections , Wolf was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the tenth constituency of Virginia , where he succeeded Joseph L. Fisher on January 3, 1981 . After 16 re-elections, he was able to exercise his mandate in Congress until January 3, 2015. During his time as a congressman, the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 , the Iraq war and the military operation in Afghanistan fell . Among other things, Wolf was a member of the Approval Committee and two sub-committees. He was also in three congressional caucuses . During the presidency of George W. Bush , Wolf supported his politics. In 2014 he did not stand for re-election. As his successor, Barbara Comstock was again elected as a Republican.
