Robert Turnbull

Robert Turnbull (born January 11, 1850 in Lawrenceville , Brunswick County , Virginia , †  January 22, 1920 in Virginia) was an American politician . Between 1910 and 1913 he represented the state of Virginia in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Robert Turnbull first attended the Rock Spring Academy . After a subsequent law degree at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and his admission as a lawyer in 1871, he began to work in Lawrenceville in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1891 and 1910 he was District Administrator ( County Clerk ) in Brunswick County. Turnbull was a member of the Virginia Senate from 1894 to 1898 . In 1901 he was a delegate to a meeting to revise the state constitution. In 1896 and 1904 he took part as a delegate at the respective Democratic National Conventions .

After the death of MP Francis R. Lassiter , Turnbull was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC when he was due for the fourth seat of Virginia , where he took up his new mandate on March 8, 1910. After being re-elected, he could remain in Congress until March 3, 1913 . In 1912 he was no longer nominated for re-election by his party. After his time in the US House of Representatives, Robert Turnbull practiced as a lawyer again. From 1916 he worked in the Brunswick County County Court Administration. He died on January 22, 1920; his exact place of death is not known. He was then buried in Lawrenceville.
