List of 500-yard passing games in the NFL

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Rowbeartoe (talk | contribs) at 05:35, 13 October 2008 (→‎Every game with two 400 or more yard quarterbacks: format correction. again. sigh....). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

In the National Football League, quarterbacks have passed for at least 400 yards 196 times in the regular season and 13 more in the postseason. Dan Marino has recorded the most 400 or more yard passing games, 15 including 2 in the post season. There have been a total of 9 games with over 500 yards passing. Norm Van Brocklin holds the record with 554 yards passing in 1951. Ken O'Brien is the only quarterback to have earned a perfect passer rating in a 400 or more yard game. Only 5 times has a game included 2 quarterbacks who passed for 400 or more yards.

These accomplishments are rare in the NFL. Before the start of the 2008 NFL season, there have been 14,121 regular season games played and 445 postseason games,[1] meaning that NFL passers have had over 29,000 opportunities to reach the 400-yard mark.

This is a work in progress. Several QBs need complete team names. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
