The 2009/10 season was the sixth season of the women's second division . The start of the season was scheduled for September 20, 2009. The last game day took place on May 16, 2010. The relegation games of the third-bottom were scheduled for May 24th and 30th, 2010.
The women's and girls' soccer division of FC Gütersloh 2000 founded an independent club, FSV Gütersloh, in 2009 . The champions of Regionalliga West , FFC Brauweiler Pulheim , joined 1. FC Köln on July 1, 2009 . The SG Wattenscheid 09 switched from the south to the north group.

In the northern group, Herford SV secured promotion again on April 14, 2010 after 17 of 22 games without defeat and the championship after 20 games and remained undefeated throughout the season as the first team. The relegation ranks were occupied by Wattenscheid 09 and Blau-Weiß Hohen Neuendorf . Wattenscheid did not appear at Werder Bremen on the penultimate matchday . The DFB rated the game 2-0 for Bremen and sentenced Wattenscheid to a fine of 2,000 euros .
