Adolf Peter Hoffmann
Adolf Peter Hoffmann (born January 29, 1906 in Cologne ; † July 23, 1982 in Berlin ) was a German actor who starred in numerous DEFA and DFF film productions during his acting career . In addition, he worked as a director and acting director of various theater stages in East Germany.
Life
Hoffmann's acting career began in 1925 on a stage in Würzburg, followed by stage activities in Lübeck, Saarbrücken, Danzig, Frankfurt / M. After the end of the Second World War, in addition to his acting activities, he also worked as a director and theater director in Magdeburg, Rostock and Erfurt. From 1954 to 1974 he had a long-term engagement at the Deutsches Theater Berlin . In addition to his theater work, the artist also played in numerous DEFA film and television productions , but above all for German television broadcasting (DFF) . One of his best-known film roles is certainly Detective Inspector Knappe in Slatan Dudow's Stronger Than the Night of 1954.
He was married to the actress Gaby Jäh (1912–2015); his son Tim Hoffmann (1943–2015) was also an actor.
