Tom Colton, an old college colleague from the Academy, informs Scully of the case and asks her for help. A fingerprint from the crime scene leads to other X-files that go back to 1903. The liver was torn out of all the victims. Scully and Mulder monitor the office building and arrest a man they find in a ventilation shaft. The man's name is Eugene Victor Tooms. He passes a polygraph test and is released, but his fingerprints match those from the crime scene and the old X-files. Tooms kills another man, this time entering the house through the fireplace. Tooms' body can deform and stretch at will, which makes it able to walk such narrow paths. Scully and Mulder visit retired cop Frank Briggs, who tells them about the previous murders and shows a photo of the suspect at the time - it's Tooms. Scully and Mulder drive to Tooms' former home. There they find numerous trophies that Tooms took from his murders, as well as a place that Mulder thinks is a nest where Tooms hibernates. Tooms need the livers of their victims for nourishment during this hibernation. In her apartment, Scully is attacked by Tooms, but Mulder saves her at the last minute - Tooms is arrested. Tooms is taken to a mental institution for further investigation, but Tooms seems to have found an escape route there too ...

Scully and Mulder go with the medic Dr. Hodge, the toxicologist Dr. DaSilva, the geologist Dr. Murphy and the pilot Bear to Alaska. At the station, Mulder and Bear are attacked by a dog. Bear is bitten and the dog is drugged. During an examination of the dog, Scully found that something was moving under the dog's skin, and the animal was also showing signs of bubonic plague . The team examines the ice samples that the dead scientists took from deep drilling in a meteor crater and discovered single-cell organisms in them. Mulder believes the worm-like protozoa could be of extraterrestrial origin. Bear seems increasingly irritable and does not want to be examined, knowing that he has the characteristics of the disease. Bear can be overwhelmed and a protozoan is removed from its body, but it dies afterwards. All dead researchers also carried the same worm, which causes aggression in its host and ultimately kills it. When Mulder wakes up at night, he finds Dr. Murphy dead up. Hodge, DaSilva and Scully believed that Mulder killed Murphy and was infected with a worm himself. Mulder is then locked up. Through investigation, Scully finds out that two worms fight and kill each other. The infected dog is cured by inserting a second worm. Mulder is released and at the same time it turns out that DaSilva is infected, but she too is cured by inserting a second worm. 9 9 Obsessed Space Nov 12, 1993 Nov 7, 1994 William Graham Chris Carter
The episode begins with a report from 1977 in which the discovery of ice deposits on Mars and the face of Mars is reported. The then head of the mission, Lieutenant Colonel Belt, and the current head of the shuttle program, is plagued by nightmares that a ghost drove into him during the mission in space. Michelle Generoo, an employee at NASA's control center , contacts Scully and Mulder after a shuttle launch is aborted, as she fears that the shuttle has been tampered with. Scully and Mulder meet Belt, who rules out sabotage and is determined to keep to the next scheduled start of the shuttle. The shuttle starts successfully, but radio contact is broken shortly after it has started. Generoo informs Scully and Mulder. Generoo had a car accident on the way to the control center, but she was only slightly injured. It turns out that the contact to the shuttle is manipulated from the control center. The shuttle should maneuver itself on instructions from Belt, otherwise it will heat up too much. The risky maneuver succeeds. During the night, the spirit that had entered it in space leaves the body of Belts and rams the shuttle. This then reports an oxygen leak in the tank. Despite this defect and the danger to the crew, Belt insists that the cargo be delivered by the shuttle. The shuttle crew noticed a ghost outside the shuttle while the cargo was being released. Belt has a nervous breakdown . Scully and Mulder search the files for and find evidence of tampering with the shuttle. Belt admits that he knew about the sabotage and points out that the shuttle also has defective heat protection tiles and will therefore probably not survive a re-entry into the earth's atmosphere . The manipulations are probably based on the ghost that drove into Belt. The control center manages to bring the shuttle back safely to earth. Triggered by the ghost, Belt has another seizure, he falls out of the window of his apartment and is killed in the process.

Scully and Mulder investigate and find out that a former research team member, Arthur Grable, mysteriously died a few months ago. Mulder notices that there are four different handwritings on a blackboard with math calculations. So there must have been a fourth man present. Keats and Nolette say that only Roland was there, but he could hardly have committed a murder. Scully and Mulder visit the autistic Roland at the nursing home . Roland does not want to have seen anything and his handwriting does not match the one on the board. Roland is repeatedly plagued by visions that predict his actions. Driven by a vision, he kills Keats by dipping his head in liquid nitrogen . Then Roland works on the scientist's computer. The agents see that the computer was being used, and Mulder finds the password for the file in Roland's scribbles. The files were the ones Arthur Grable had worked out. Mulder and Scully examine Grable more closely and realize that he had hired Roland. Nolette informs the agents that Grable's head has been preserved in a laboratory and eventually the agents find out that Roland is Grable's twin brother. Nolette breaks into the laboratory where Grable's remains are stored and manipulates its storage tank. Roland is working in the laboratory again and finally reaches his goal of bringing the turbine to Mach 15 when Nolette arrives. Nolette admits to stealing Arthur's work and tries to kill Roland, but Roland knocks him down and drags him into the wind tunnel. He wants to kill Nolette, as he did previously. The agents try to stop him and save Nolette's life. Grable remains die off due to the rising temperature in his tank. Roland is taken to a psychiatric institute to be tested on him.

A man is shot in a car chase but escapes. The police find that the man's blood is green. Deep Throat points out the case to Mulder. The fugitive is called Dr. William Secare. The car that Secare used is due to the researcher Dr. Terrance Berube registered, but claims not to know about it. Shortly afterwards he is murdered, but the murder is disguised as a suicide . Berube did research on the decryption of DNA . Mulder examines Berube's house, Secare calls and Mulder poses as Berube, but he is bugged by Berube's killer. Secare is seriously injured and collapses in the phone booth, an emergency doctor is called. When the emergency doctor tries to establish an access, gas escapes from Secare's body, which numbs the doctors, while Secare escapes. Mulder goes to a warehouse whose keys he found in Berube's house. In the hall he finds tanks with living people in them. When he leaves the hall, he is followed, but he escapes. During their investigation, Scully finds out that the Erlenmeyer flask they found in Berube's laboratory contains bacteria samples that are of extraterrestrial origin. When Scully and Mulder return to the warehouse, it is empty, Deep Throat appears to announce that it was a gene transplant in which humans and aliens were crossed. Secare is therefore a hybrid and the government is also involved. Mulder finds Secare at Berube's house, but Secare is shot by Berube's killer and Mulder is captured. Scully receives help from Deep Throat in her search for Mulder . She is given access to a strictly secured research facility, where she finds an alien fetus preserved in liquid nitrogen . In an exchange, Deep Throat offers the fetus for Mulder. During the exchange, Deep Throat is shot dead by Berube's killer and Mulder is released. A few days later it was announced that the X-Files would be closed. The cancer candidate is keeping the alien fetus in a storage room for evidence at the Pentagon .
