The Alliance of European National Movements (eng. Alliance of European National Movements , AENM, French Alliance européens of mouvements nationaux , AEMN) is a right-wing European political party . The party- affiliated foundation of the AENM bears the name Identités & Traditions Européennes .

history

The organization was founded on October 24th, 2009 in Budapest . The French Front National, with its two representatives Jean-Marie Le Pen and Bruno Gollnisch , was one of the driving forces behind the founding of the party. Many of the other founding members, like Le Pen and Gollnisch, previously belonged to the short-lived group in the European Parliament Identity, Tradition, Sovereignty .

In February 2012, the organization was recognized as a political party at European level , after the application had been rejected a year earlier because the party did not include parliamentarians from seven countries. Recognition by the European Parliament and the associated financial support for the party was highly controversial in the European Parliament. Various parliamentarians called for the conditions for European party funding to be tightened and for racist and xenophobic parties to be excluded.

After Marine Le Pen was elected as the new leader of the Front National in January 2011, she sought cooperation with more moderate Eurosceptic and right-wing populist parties within the framework of the European Alliance for Freedom . Under pressure from Marine Le Pen, Jean-Marie Le Pen and Gollnisch ended their membership in the AEMN, and for Gollnisch also his time as President of the AEMN. Béla Kovács from Jobbik was elected as his successor on December 17, 2013 .

The party did not apply in good time to register the party with the newly established authority for European political parties and European political foundations (APPF), which will be required from 2017 . An application from the ITE party foundation was rejected by the APPF because the AEMN itself was not registered at the time. As a result, the AEMN's application for funding for 2018 was accordingly rejected. Finally, the AEMN was registered as a European political party on January 12, 2018. At the end of 2018, the AENM was removed from the register. The background to this was a change in the registration rules according to which the European parties had to present member parties (with parliamentarians) from seven EU member states in the register. The previous practice of the AENM of individual parliamentarians from national parties that did not belong to the APF, but to other European parties, was thus prevented. For example, parliamentarians from the National Front had regularly signed the AENM, the APF and the MENL - of which the FN belongs.

For the 2019 European elections , AEMN chairman Kovacs signed the necessary support for the start of the Italian party CasaPound Italia . None of the parties around the AEMN were able to win mandates in the election.

Principles

At the founding meeting of the party, nine demands were made. These contain, among other things, the rejection of a “European superstate”, instead the European countries should work together as sovereign and independent nations. In addition, the observance of civil rights is demanded, totalitarianism is rejected and an “effective protection” of Europe against terrorism and “religious and financial imperialism” is demanded. A “solution to the immigration problem ” by promoting the Third World as well as a common struggle of the European peoples against social dumping and the “destructive effects” of globalization is called for .

As of the end of 2017, the AEMN only has individual members and no parties as members.
