Annamaria Cancellieri (* 22. October 1943 in Rome ) is an Italian non-party politician . From November 2011 to April 2013 she was Italian interior minister in the Monti cabinet , then until February 2014 Minister of Justice in the Letta government . She had the reputation of being "la risolvaproblemi" ("the problem solver").

She studied political science, joined the Ministry of the Interior in 1972 and was appointed prefect for the first time in 1993 . The 109 Italian provinces each have a prefecture headed by a prefect who is responsible for security and order. Cancellieri headed five of these prefectures in succession during her career, namely in Catania , Genoa , Vicenza , Bergamo and Brescia . She was also provisional director of the municipalities of Parma (March – May 1994 and October – November 2011) and Bologna (February 2010 – May 2011).

She had been in retirement since 2009 when Mario Monti appointed her minister. In April 2013 she was traded as a possible candidate of the civil camp for the Italian state presidency .

Annamaria Cancellieri, who grew up in the former Italian colony of Libya , is married, a mother of two and a grandmother.
