Bartlewo [ barˈtlɛvɔ ] ( German  Bartlowo , 1938–1945 Barteln ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . He belongs to Gmina Ruciane-Nida ( urban and rural community Rudczanny / Niedersee-Nieden ) in Powiat Piski ( Johannisburg district ).

Geographical location

Bartlewo is located on the north bank of Lake Beldahn ( Jezioro Bełdany in Polish ) in the southeast of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship, 23 kilometers southwest of the former district town of Sensburg ( Mrągowo in Polish ) and 21 kilometers northwest of today's district metropolis Pisz ( Johannisburg in German ).  

history

The former Bartlowo consisted in its core only of a small homestead and until 1945 was a place to live in the rural community of Isnothen ( Iznota in Polish ). Thus it belonged to the district of Sensburg in the administrative district of Gumbinnen (from 1905 district of Allenstein ) in the Prussian province of East Prussia . On June 3, 1938 Bartlowo was foreign-sounding place names from political and ideological reasons of defense barbels renamed.

As a result of the war, the place came to Poland in 1945 with all of southern East Prussia . Today it is part of the urban and rural community Ruciane-Nida (Rudczanny / Niedersee-Nieden) in the Powiat Piski ( Johannisburg district ), until 1998 of the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then it has belonged to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

Until 1945 Bartlowo was parish in the Protestant parish church Nikolaiken ( Polish Mikołajki ) in the church province of East Prussia of the Evangelical Church of the Old Prussian Union or on the Catholic side to Sensburg (Polish Mrągowo ) in the Diocese of Warmia .

Today Bartlewo belongs to both denominations according to Mikołajki , to the Catholic parish in the Diocese of Ełk of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland and to the Protestant parish in the Diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Bartlewo is located away from the traffic and can only be reached on a side road that leads directly from the center of Iznota to the village.

Established businesses

The place is not only visually defining the hotel company "Galindia Mazurski Eden" directly on the bank of the Jezioro Bełdany , which is a magnet for tourists. Its name recalls the reaching his time until after Mazury western Baltic tribe of Galindians and refers to the significant "Galindia resort" in neighboring Iznota .
